FAQ

Q: Why aren't you publishing everything as PDFs?

A: How do you hang a PDF on your wall? This is one of the walls of my office. Holding those books and modules in my hand was the reason I started gaming and collecting. Collecting digital files completely misses the point of collecting. Who cares if you have 100 PDF files on your phone or PC?  Or even a 1,000? They're digital, not real. Just something to read and pass the time, and none of them will have any value 20 years from now. Update: As of August 1st, 2024 my books will be available for purchase as a PDF.

Q: Why are you only selling the deluxe editions as a printed product?

A: When I was a kid, you either bought the book in the store or ordered what you wanted out of a mail order catalog like this one. It was very satisfying to order stuff using the mail, and even more satisfying when the package finally arrived at the house. Placing an order electronically using my phone and then downloading a digital file after the purchase does nothing for me. I want a physical product in my hand, and I want to open the package when it finally arrives by mail. (Check out the prices of AD&D books in that same catalog.) Digital versions of my dungeons are available through Amazon but they lack the color artwork and professionally designed map. Update: As of August 1st, 2024 my books will be available for purchase as a PDF.

Q: You are certainly losing out on sales by not selling digital versions of your deluxe editions. Don't you care?

A: My goal is to create collectible gaming products, not distribute PDFs to the world. I've given away plenty of PDFs, articles and other digital files over the years. My intention for these products is to replicate what I collected as a kid, or at least something close to it. When it comes to profits, this is not my primary income, so the bottom line isn't my #1 motivator. Basically, I want to create stuff that some kid today will buy and collect and be thankful he still has thirty or forty years from now. My office is filled with board games from the 70's and 80's, and I am so thankful that I saved every single one of them. As mentioned above, if someone only wants a digital version of one of my dungeons, they can buy them through Amazon at an inexpensive price. The deluxe editions are meant to be collectible, so they contain commissioned artwork from artists all around the globe along with a professionally designed, full-color map. Update: As of August 1st, 2024 my books will be available for purchase as a PDF.
